12/28/17 - CCLQ @ Jean's

Warning!!!  ANOTHER Picture-heavy post!!!

Welcome to the LAST meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters for 2017!!  Special thanks to Jean for helping out in a pinch. Ella's DH was sick and she didn't want him to infect anyone.

Willie was on hand to greet all of the quilters:

Some people got busy...

While others multi-tasked:

Others browsed through books that Ella brought for distribution:

Here's another of our workers:

And another of our multi-taskers:

While others were busy chatting:

Joy brought gifts for quilters who missed last week's meeting:

Gayle got a red "thread catcher" and put it right to work:

Dee Dee got ALL the colors and put hers to work, too:

Jean spotted her "yuckie green" basket and looked thrilled:

Deborah was pleased to receive a turquoise thread catcher:

Jean also made gifts to distribute:

She used scraps from her stash:

And her embroidery machine, then issued a challenge to each of us.  Jean wants us all to MAKE SOMETHING with the gift we received by the CCLQ 2018 Holiday Pot Luck!!  Are YOU up for a challenge???  Joy has to make something with THIS:

Show and Tell...

Candy started us off, but hers was a bit of a process:

Jean kept herself busy while waiting by deconstructing thrift finds:

Candy passed around a pillow that she made to decorate her show:

Ella didn't have a project to share:

Deborah is quilting away on her antique quilt:

Gayle is having fun with the stitching on her Chapel Hill quilt:

Candy is still not quite ready for her turn:

Dee Dee kept working while Candy got everything situated:

Ruth S. kept stitching, but stopped to look at a quilt photo in one of Ella's books that Linda was perusing:

Candy also passed around THIS article:

It told of a quilting event coming on Jan. 12 - 13 in Sanford:

Candy called for reinforcements, Ella obliged:

Joy enthusiastically gave the tee pee a trial run:

Oh! It's cozy in here:

Come on, Willie!  Give it a try:

A view from above:

Willie reluctantly tested out the tee pee:

One last shot of Candy, happy to have (finally) conquered the thing:

Dee Dee did some stitching:

Jean shared the fabric she ordered from Spoonflower:

Then she described her Christmas present...

... And gave a demo of how the oddly constructed shirt works:

Too bad Joy didn't think to take a video...

... Of the 50 ways to wear this unusual shirt:

Here is a closer look at the Beatles fabric...

... And a shot of the one that didn't show up in the last photo:

Jean also shared the first batch of stabilized silks:

Linda enjoyed Ella's book donation by the fire:

Ruth S. continued stitching on her quilt square:

Candy worked on sewing down a quilt sleeve:

Ruth S. shared the scarf she made for her granddaughter:

Here's another look at it:

Ruth has been working on her block of the month project...

Made from THIS pattern.  Sorry to catch you mid-sentence, Ruth:

She passed around her new quilt book:

Everyone was enthralled with this border:

Ruth S. is making good progress on this block:

Joy made a Neck Warmer out of recycled jeans:

She also showed off one of the two Custom Knife Rolls she made:

HERE is the interior (Thank you, Britt!) mad of 30 year old fabric that Britt brought back from Guatemala, but never used:

Joy was happy to see some of her Thread Catchers in use:

Books from Ella, please take give them a new home:

Jean shared Willie's Christmas collar, taken from a shirt she found a the local thrift store (or in her thrift closet), stitching pre-done:

Britt spent the entire meeting working on a portion of Bonnie Hunter's 2017 Winter Mystery  called On Ringo Lake:

Oh, look!  Joy and Ruth S. were shoe twins today:

Here's a better look at all of Jean's wonderful thrifted silks:

This is the Llama, Llama fabric that was sent to Candy by the fabric company after the tee pee pattern debacle:

One of Jean's holiday tablescapes:

LOOK what graced the mantle:

Remember the crackling fire?  We must how outstayed our welcome, as now only glowing embers remain:

Hey, WAIT!!!  Where is everyone going???

Willie is sad to see the quilters go:

Go, they must.  Eight quilters were off to Moon Asian Bistro:

Joy's fortune sounds like a plug for her UFO Club:

I guess that means that this bag of scraps (Thanks, Ruth S.!!) will have to wait to see some action while Joy finishes up projects:

There are SEW many scraps that Joy shared some with Britt:

Maybe she should have taken another of Jean's cookies to cope with the task of sorting the scraps:

Linda or Dee Dee pointed out that we quilters inadvertently sorted ourselves by color!!

The pinks...

... And the blues:

Until next time...
Happy New Year!!!

  1. Wow - looks like a fun time. I'm curious about the silk thridt store pieces. I have a few silk blouses from a thrift store yet without a plan.
