9/6/18: CCLQ at Cheryl K's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week ten quilters met at Cheryl K's house.  Interesting coincidence....it was binding and bag day.  Read on to find out why.

Cheryl worked on sewing a label on a memorial quilt.

Ella sewed binding on the Kansas Quilt.

Lynda sewing binding on a quilt yet to be revealed.

Margaret also sewed binding on the Dot quilt today.

Gayle worked on her Carolina art quilt piece while Candy worked on a cross-stitch project.

Show and tell started off with Deborah's Dapple Quilt throw made with left over blocks from a queen size quilt.

Margaret shared this delightful Christmas table runner. This piece was a challenge  project in which  Margaret and a friend got together and cut out quilt kits and set a goal to have them finished by December!  Well done!
Margaret used a pizza pan to mark a large arc for her machine quilting.  Cool idea Margaret!

Special bonus...the back is a fall table runner!
Margaret brought a sample Bead Bag from DOQ with directions for Candy and others on how to make a drawstring bag.

Candy tries out the bag and Margaret reviewed the directions.

Ruth made two bags...one for storing hole-free plastic grocery bags to be use for kitty litter clean-up.

This nice colorful bag will hold the rest of the grocery bags.

What's cooking Jean?

Jean and Rick volunteer at Thanksgiving at Family House.  This year Jean is making aprons for all the cooks and servers to wear. There's talk of making an apron of the month or at least aprons for each holiday!

What wonderful embroidery work!

Jean also volunteers weekly at Family House and  reported the cross body bag project has taken off.  Several guests are getting one to one instruction from Jean on how to make a bag.

DeeDee reported that she's almost finished with  the renovation of her quilting studio. She discovered while reorganizing that she has 10 PhD's  (projects half done) and 2 technical UFO's...Joy says you have to cut the fabric for it to be a UFO (unfinished object.)  If it's just fabric selections in a bag, it's a "Wish and a Dream." We're looking forward to seeing DeeDee's new sewing/creating space!

Cheryl showed this wonderful baby quilt.   The nursery theme was nautical and Cheryl already had these fabrics on hand.  Way to shop your stash Cheryl!

For all the quilters working on the Blooming Nine Patch Project...here's page two on organizing your blocks.  Hopefully you can enlarge this photo on your iPad or iPhone to actually read it.  If not, contact Joy for a hard copy.

Here's the cross stitch that Candy's making for her niece who lives in Norway.

Gayle is happy to be cleaning stuff out and brought this quilt frame to give away.
Ella was the lucky recipient.

Gayle also brought a large bag of scraps...can't remember who took that home.  Was it Ella?

Lynda showed this lovely quilt made with Heather Bailey fabrics. The quilting is finished and Lynda is now adding the binding

closer view

The back is also interesting.

Lynda shared this picture of a Kaffe Fassett quilt she is currently making.  She has the center completed, but is not too fond of the pink diagonals.  Folks shared ideas on other color possibilities.

Ella is happy to almost be finished with the binding on her quilt.
Quilters had lunch at Rasa.  Deborah took a picture of this poster on the wall....ummmm...maybe there's a quilt idea?

Until next week, get your hand sewing projects ready!  Stay safe and quilt on.
