9/15/18 - NT Virtual Bee and The Hardcore Quilters

Welcome to the September meeting of the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Bee!!  I'm here to share with you about our quilting adventures.  In the midst of Hurricane Florence, my Quilt Bee had scheduled a B9P Sew Day.  The eye of the storm was (slowly) approaching, but a number of quilters decided to brave the elements.  The meeting was attended by:

Britt

Joy
Margaret
Candy
Dee Dee
Ruth B.

We got a LOT done and only saw one short downpour all day!

Joy was all set up before anyone else arrived:

Britt's B9P was all laid out on the design floor:

Margaret arrived with her top completed:

She pointed out the fabrics that came from her stash:

Margaret also brought along a completed Holiday Runner:

The back of the runner is ready for autumn:

Margaret is working on the binding of her Circle Quilt:

She has also started on a new scrappy project:

Margaret gave her smaller strippy scraps to Joy:

Here is the pattern Margaret used for her Holiday Runner:

Dee Dee brought an Art Quilt to work on:

Candy organized her pieces and parts into an old office sorter:

She also brought some scraps for Joy:

Dee Dee brought batting scraps, which Joy has already put to use:

Here's another look at Dee Dee's project for the day:

Diamond or circle?  The cat pupils beg to know:

Definitely diamonds:

Britt helped Candy get started on laying out her B9P:

The center is looking good:

Then more rounds were added:

Britt also shared a way for Candy to keep track of her fabrics:

Margaret pieced more scrappy blocks...

...While Dee Dee moved on to kitty's nose:

Candy's B9P is growing:

The blues were added to the mix:

Margaret trimmed up block parts:

Narrow or wide?  Background showing:

Britt also had trimming to do:

Ruth B. wondered if she should include the pale yellow...

... Or not:

Margaret finished a group of blocks...

... And wondered how to set them together:

Someone (Dee Dee?) suggested an on-point setting:

More blocks for the "filler squares", perhaps:

Britt completed her String Blocks:

Ruth began cutting fabric for her B9P:

Britt's border idea is going to work well:

Margaret wondered about some other options for her scrap quilt:

Britt finished her final border...

... While Ruth reacquainted herself with her travel machine:

Joy sewed block components...

... And finished another round of 9-Patches:

Ruth pressed her strip sets:

Joy laid out all her blocks...

... As Ruth began sewing:

Britt completed the top of her donation quilt:

Oh!  There she is:

Here is her next donation project:

Yay, Ruth!!  A start on your 9-Patches:

Joy decided to start sewing her corners into rows...

... Then pick everything up...

... Stacking the rows so they are ready for stitching:

This was the worst of the hurricane on meeting day:

Virtual(ly) all of the other quilters chimed in...

(On two different email threads and via personal texts.)

I spent the beginning of the following week getting ready for a trip.  I'll add the virtual projects as soon as I can.  Unfortunately, it may be a week or so before I can get to it.  Please be patient with me.

Until next time...
