12/20/18 - CCLQ @ Joanna's

Welcome to another meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!!  Today, twelve members met at Joanna's house for the "official" reveal of Jean's Christmas Tree Challenge.  She gave each member an embroidered Christmas tree and gave us MONTHS to come up with an idea of how we would use them.

The editor's pick for Best Ornament EVER:

On the longarm:

The artificial tree that looked (and felt) real:

Snacking, drinking, and doling out Cheerios to the Junior Quilter:

Gayle couldn't contain her excitement.  They found a new house, put in an offer, AND it was accepted!!  Congratulations:

Jean had a gift for Gayle, but didn't know it was going to be an early housewarming gift:

Fabrics from Pineapple in a range of ocean colors:

Joanna completed this unique table runner:

Ruth had a story to tell:

Lynda had a TELL.  Her daughter just made a temporary move to North Carolina.  ML was grateful for the "soft landing".  Everything was taken care of, right down to groceries in the fridge:

The Junior Quilter tried out Jean's felted reindeer bag:

Linda shared this special memory pillow made for her niece:

Here is a closer look.  No closures necessary, just button it up:

Dee Dee showed her batch of quilted postcards made for auction with proceeds going to a special cause:

Look at the adorable kitty fabric:

The feet just to the LEFT of the little table belong to Cheryl K.  She was just back from Ohio and had a huge TELL:

Jean worked on finishing the binding (or attaching the label) on her nephew's special quilt:

The Junior Quilter had a grand time rolling around on the shag carpet and babbling away:

Margaret prepared a sample of the QAYG technique that she's been using and assembled kits for us to make a Donation Quilt:

It took several weeks, but Joy finally finished the binding on this tiny quilt that needs to be mailed off before the end of the year:

Margaret provided some fabric strips to entertain Little F:

Candy ended up with two small pieces of her special braided border and wondered how to incorporate them into her project:

Jean's quilt is done:

The Junior Quilter decided to test it out:

Jean tossed the binding scrap on the floor, but after a few moments, Joy rescued it from little hands:

Here is Santa Jean with a gift for everyone:

Cheryl B won a door prize at DOQ:

She also finished her Blooming 9-Patch quilt:

It, apparently, also needed to be tested:

This is Ella's Tree Challenge.  She made a family tree:

Her QUILTING family:

Margaret and Joanna readied the BIG surprise:

They called Jean in...

... She looked to see what was on the table:

What she saw stopped her in her tracks:

What did you do?!  That's what she wanted to know...

... And then she wanted to know HOW??? this was accomplished:

We took a quick group shot with Jean and the quilt:

As Joy was leaving with the Junior Quilter, Joanna came running out with this bag of fabric scraps:

Thank you, Joanna!  I'm sure some of these scraps will be pulled into service in an upcoming quilt.

Later, Jean sent the follow photo of the Tree (Challenge) Topper.  It looks like a perfect fit!  Well done, Quilters:

I wonder if Jean's found the block that's different from all the rest?

Until next time...
Happy quilting!!!
