10/31/19: CCLQ at Maggie’s

Happy Halloween from the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!  On the last day of October eleven quilters met at Maggie’s home. A big thank you to Joy for covering the blog last week!  Enjoy this blog which is full of treats!
Quilters were greeted by a mysterious spirit covered in luxurious fabric!  Guess who?
Maggie served lots of delicious treats including yummy pumpkin bread, fruit, and a coffee cake.
Candy recently returned from a Peace Corps reunion in San Antonio.  One of her Peace Corps friends purchased this stunning batik fabric in Malaysia fifty years ago and knowing Candy was a quilter gave this lovely fabric as a gift.

Another of Candy's Peace Corps friends heard about the fabric gift and said that she also purchased fabric and never used it, so later mailed it to Candy.  What a treat!
DeeDee shared post cards about upcoming quilt shows.  Mark your calendars for:

Cheryl added borders, quilted and is now working on the binding of this happy baby quilt. Cheryl is also busy making microwave bowls and table runners for Christmas gifts.
Cheryl found this cute train flannel fabric for the back of the baby quilt.
Gayle, Ruth S and Lynda enjoy sharing stories.
Ruth S attended a DOQ donation quilt workshop and started a bunk bed quilt with the BQ3 pattern
Gayle is going up the hill with embroidered flowers on her Chapel Hill art quilt.
Maggie has connected many blocks in this pretty plaid Quilt As You Go Quilt.

Kudos to Maggie who recently participated in a race in Ocean Isle Beach and won this awesome medal!

Deborah shared a copy of Curated Quilts.  The theme for this quarterly quilting journal was star quilts.  Deborah wants to make the Hunter's Star quilt in this issue but first has a few of UFO's to work on.

Deborah promised to share links to the ribbon border used on her niece's baby quilt.  Here's the link to a simple ribbon border.  Here's another link if you want to learn a short cut method make a ribbon border or quilt. You may want to mute the sound on this youtube.

Until next time,   "Our lives are like quilts bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love."
