11/9/19 - NT @ Britt's

Welcome to the November meeting of the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Bee!!  This month we were hosted by Britt.  Thank you for opening your spacious home to the group.  We had a record setting 15 members in attendance!  Thanks to everyone who contributed toward our delicious lunch.

Of course, we had a number of conversations going on at once, as members arrived in dribs and drabs...

... Various members took time to catch up with one another...

... Until it was time to begin the meeting:

Here, Britt poses by her new "pour" painting:

Show and Tell began with Cheryl K. and one of her two new quilted Scarf-turned-Table Runners:

She also shared a recently completed Flannel Baby Quilt:

I must have missed getting a photo of Cheryl K's veggie net bag that she plans on trying to replicate.  Sorry!

Dee Dee has been working on Bird Coasters:

Below, she shares one of the adjustments made to "Ella's" Grocery Bag tutorial from Shabby Fabrics:

Dee Dee is very happy with her recent impulse buy!  She bought this Chicken Quilt made by Jennifer @ the Tuesday Group:

Joy tried for a group shot... Since...

... There were SEW many of us in the same place at the same time:

The following 3 items resulted from a friendly challenge:

Challenger Number One, Pig in a Pink Tutu:

Challenger Number Two, Flower Mosaic:

And...

Challenger Number Three, Edisto Bird:

Cheryl K. got a text from the happy recipients of her recent gift:

Here are the Challengers revealed... Helena, Dee Dee, and Britt:

Ruth B. shared the blouse (quite a process for something with only two pieces!) she made and discussed the alteration planned to make the sleeves a more comfortable length:

Her (Joanna quilted) Donation Quilt is now being bound:

Look at this lovely Quilt of Valor...

Britt bordered the square top that a fellow guild member designed:

She is also in "production mode" for an upcoming craft show:

Helena had a TELL in addition to her SHOW:  She is making progress on her Pecking Order quilt.

Ella added borders to her great-niece's quilt:

She may trim the size down just a bit once the quilting is done:

Candy found these adorable alligators for her grand children...

... Along with these "quilted" greeting cards at a local craft show:

Candy made this reversible table runner...

... From a borrowed pattern that was in Margaret's stash:

Kirsten is working on Santa # 9 in 14 count cross stitch:

These will be turned into ornaments with felt backings:

TELL:  She is collecting patterns for DH's Halloween tree.

Gayle shared her latest collection of gelli prints:

Encouragement from artist Ginger Cook, prompted "What if..."

Gayle now uses her gelli prints on canvas as backgrounds for her painting and stamping:

TELL:  She is excited to have signed up for a year of Personal Art Coaching.  Plus, she is working on 2 quilts using her gelli prints.

Joy shared her latest Quilted Scrap Basket:

Apparently, Carol is hoping to win the Pineapple Prize keychain back at the next SALE:

Joy's newest scrap basket is underway:

She also brought her "Ella" Donation Quilt to show the group:

Lynda Mac...

... And Carol waited patiently for their turn to share.  Her TELL is that she is working on decorating the house for our next meeting.

PLEASE NOTE that the date has been changed and our Holiday Potluck will be held on Saturday, December 14th at Carol's house:

Lynda brought a pattern (ice skate applique) to share and the fabrics she collected, which will now be made into Table Runners:

TELL:  She's making progress on her BIG Sue Spargo project and is working on 8 of the 9 blocks.  Information has been released regarding ALL of the borders.  They will be a scattering of leaves (from the depicted trees) on gray wool.

Ruth S. showed off her Blooming 9-Patch with repeating colors:

She was really happy with the group's response:

Linda was sporting her BTS sneakers:

Her TELL:  She is officially signed up for Medicare AND there are only 133 working days until retirement!!

Jean had a TELL:  Victorian Christmas was up, then fell down, and is now hung with sturdier hooks.  It was made of 37 machine embroidered blocks done on linen.  There are 1,050,000 stitches.  One million, fifty thousand!!!  It was quilted by Suzanne De Serres of Singing Stitches and used 1200 yards of thread!  She will enter it in a contest offered by her linen supplier.

Ruth S. considered McKenna Ryan's Fish pattern, for her son, but found McKenna's fish print instead:

Britt shared Charlotte's "Pour Painting", along with her own:

She also experimented with Sharpie ink on paper:

Candy skimmed the 1964 National Geographic article on the Peace Corp that Ruth S. brought for her:

Britt's DH recently completed the construction of their new bed.  The handcrafted bed had no screws used in its assembly:

My apologies to Helena, Linda, and Jean for missing photos.

Until next time...
