12/9/21 - CCLQ @ ZoomBEE

Welcome to the meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!!

Thanks to Ruth S. for hosting this zoom meeting.   We are quickly approaching the end of 2020 and so looking forward to 2021 for all the quilting projects and friendship we can share. Plans are in the works to have a Virtual Sew Day on New Year's Day.  Hopefully Joy will be able the spread the news to all versions (Monthly, Weekly, and Nite) of the Nimble Thimbles.

Linda told us about her recent adventure with Korean massage/treatments.   She highly recommends the multi “step” treatments to relax and come away with oh so soft skin.   All 3 of the DKB concerts were Great.   Mixture of songs and costumes each night along with guest appearances of other performers.  The Band's "Army" of fans is quiet friendly and shared ideas of what to do with confetti saved from shows.  Just like our quilting community they bond over a shared passion for a subject and can recognize like minded people when traveling.  And she is sporting new glasses.

Carol had a minor design surprise where the “CARS” in orange ended up on the bottom of this bag.
She made bowl cozy’s and grocery bags of matching fabric for the grandchildren's Teacher Gifts.

Design update… swapped the beady eyes for a darker bead.

Gayle continues to work on her Dresden plate quilt.  She also had a BIG organizational fabric day.  Small pieces cut down to standard sizes and yardage organized by size.  All fitting in her sewing room cabinets with doors.

Candy has a "Tree" of gift bags all done and ready for giving.

She showed another spectacular batik she received from friends and now has to find inspiration to design a wall hanging or quilt that will properly showcase the design.

Lynda Mac is headed to the Post Office to get her gift quilts on their journey to New Zealand. She plans to finish up the binding on two more quilts before Christmas and hopefully doing the final meeting to close out the Business (both happy and sad I'm sure).

Maggie started a full size quilt using a matching Jellyroll and Charm pack.  Shared her method of arranging blocks on design wall then pinning a whole row to take to the machine for stitching. ... Unable to find hot glue gun using Elmer's is working to hold the buttons to the center of a bunch of ornaments.   A single staple in the center is so much easier then needle and thread.

Ruth is sporting a new haircut and is attempting to find un-flawed pillow cases to go along with her Black and White quilt.   She is having issues with flannel binding and plans to trim back the batting to reduce the bulk in the binding.

Dee Dee has a Heron panel she plans to make into a pillow.
She also has plans for 2022 to use up her half a shelf of fat quarters.  She purchased a book Fat Quarter Fun to help with the goal.

Britt is busy quilting on the long-arm customer christmas quilts and finished her Mom's first cat quilt on the sit down mid-arm machine.   She told us about a new bar in Hillsborough, Yonder that has multiple musicians performing on Wednesday nights.  She is also organizing like Gayle and taking stock of all her UFO's to work on in 2022.  This lead to a discussion of fabric purchase sizes Britt now buys 1 yard cuts instead of FQ and Ella always buys 3 yard cuts to make sure she has enough for any project down the road.

Cheryl is making some small gifts to share with her book group.  Ornaments and unique book marks that fit over the corner of the page.

Seems that using lattice instead curtain rod is working well to hang the butterfly quilt. (Go Stephen)

Ruth S. was thrilled to gift her 1970's tied tree skirt to her son's friend's family who often spends vacations up at the Bluff.  She gave us a peak to her start on her Son-in-Law's Portrait.
