1/27/2022 CCLQ @ ZoomBee

Welcome to the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters weekly meeting!

Announcements from Ruth S.  Several members have expressed wanting to meet for lunch.  A lunch is planned at Bennett Point Grill on Tuesday, Feb. 8th at 11:30.  The plan is to meet every other week for lunch.

Also.. let Ruth S know if you’re interested in the VanGogh exhibit in Raleigh.  A group of quilters plan to go and Ruth has information on that.

Deborah: finished the Fizz quilt top made with left over blocks.  Continued to work on the Karen Brown De-clutter Challenge by organizing her patterns into notebooks.

Carol:  shared a lovely red and white scrappy table runner made with some left over blocks and fabrics.  She also shared a Spring inspired table runner made with 2 inch strips.

Britt: shared a view of the long arm machine with Maggie’s Plus Quilt on it. Britt continues to work on her “UnBegun” project by sewing lots of hour glass blocks!  Britt recommends using the “quilt in a day” ruler for these blocks

Ruth B:  reported that she made a couple of quilted microwave bowls and is sewing the binding on the Noah’s Ark baby quilt.

DeeDee: shared photos of a lovely batik bunk bed donation quilt and a beautiful honey bee fabric baby quilt which was quilted by Britt. DeeDee has started her “UnBegun” quilt challenge.

Candy:  shared a photo of the new quilt she started.  Candy took a photo of the blocks on the design wall and discovered a mistake.  Candy recommends taking a photo of quilts in progress. It’s a lot easier to take out a block before sewing the whole quilt together!  Also, Candy has a gazillion half square triangle scraps left over from the new quilt.

Ruth S:  organized her recipes into a notebook and plans to work on organizing quilt patterns too. Shared a photo of the blue and white table runner that she’s making for her sister.

Gayle: finished the Sailboat Baby quilt and used a clever quilting design by quilting around the sailboats on the border and using the sailboat design to quilt in the open spaces. Plans to use a lovely floral fabric for the back on the Lori Holt Appliqué quilt.  Worked on organizing her kitchen cabinets.

Maggie: finished the binding on a lovely Christmas quilt which was quilted by Britt. Maggie also finished the cute Snowman Table runner which involved log cabin blocks and appliqué.  Maggie recommended Karen Brown’s scrap management video for creating an “After Quilt” using the left over blocks and fabric for the back of a quilt.
Here’s a link to that video: https://youtu.be/goF9PWf6UYE

Cheryl:  our “intrepid quilter” has finished the brown and white quilt top!  Cheryl is also working on de-cluttering and found lots of little half square triangles left over from a Valentine’s quilt.  She plans to use them to start a new project.

Lynda Mac: made a back for the Kaffe Fasset fish quilt and plans to quilt it herself. The Calico Quilt will go to Britt for quilting. Lynda found her “Un-Begun” quilt project.  It’s a quilt kit from 2012, Stars of Summer by Bonnie Sullivan.  The fabrics are gorgeous flannel.

Until next week!
