5/14/15 - CCLQ @ Joanna's

Thank you to Joanna for hosting today's CCLQ meeting.  We gathered for another work/eat/gab session that began with Ella off-loading a bag of scraps (Somebody cover Britt's eyes and ears, please.) on Joy.  Not that Joy would EVER complain about that, as she LOVES to collect other people's scraps!!!  Thanks, again, Ella.

Joanna brought in a couple of rolling carts from her studio (for some of us to use):

We were all busy today.  Some were hand sewing (including applique, quilting, and stitching down binding.)  Some others were cutting paper-pieced blocks and some worked on art quilting projects.

Would you like to have a look???

Ella was doing a bit of applique:

Deborah got situated and quilted on her Grandmothers Lone Star quilt:

Gayle, Cheryl, and Candy were stitching down quilt bindings:

Dee Dee and Jean each worked on one of their art quilt projects:

Gathering supplies...
And... quilting with Fun Foam?!?!
Using her Shot Cotton 4 - Patch...
Jean auditioned thread options...
And stitched patterns with the options. (Multiple strands of DMC Embroidery Floss and a single strand of  Pearl Cotton.)
Sorry, Jean!  I couldn't get the photos of your knitted vest to download from Deborah's email.  :o((

ETA... Operator Error!!  Here they are:

It fits you better than it fits me.  YOU are going to look beautiful at that wedding you will be attending!!  It is SUCH a cool piece to add to your (already amazing) wardrobe.  Enjoy!!

Joy got all set up to trim more GREEN scraps:

BUT...

Couldn't resist the lure of Ella's bag of scrappy goodness!! She was so busy with sorting that she forgot to start cutting.  She sorted all meeting long, but with her editorial duties, she never did find the bottom of the bag.  LOL

Ruth B. and Joanna shared one of the rolling carts for trimming paper-pieced projects:

We had a number of items for today's Show and Tell:

Gayle brought her Geese in the Cabin quilt.  (I think that's the name of the pattern!)

Cheryl finished a BRIGHT quilt top (but I can't recall who/what it's for.)

Ella made a baby quilt from scraps found in her sewing room (that she is trying to clean out.)

Here's a close-up of the design.

Joy showed off TWO quilt tops that she plans to transform into something else.  Stay tuned!

She also shared the project that she worked on before the meeting....

AND... the corrected version of her Maverick Star block!

(Those last two photos were shown on a passed around cell phone.)

Dee Dee brought her new Art Journaling "To - Go" Bag (made using a thrift store find.)

We saw the front...

The back...

And the inside!

Dee Dee used a variety of techniques to complete the bag for this VERY COOL travel Art Kit.

Candy shared her thoughts on the ruler that she recently ordered from Nancy's Notions...

Along with the blocks made while using it...

But, according to her, the BACK of the booklet was the BEST part of the package!!

At the end of the meeting, Dee Dee showed off the selection of rollers she had created today:

And Ella shared the jacket that she is making:

We saw the BACK...

And the FRONT...

And discussed possible options for closures (and the positioning thereof.)

There was another highlight besides Show and Tell, as a few of us took a studio tour:

I went in to take pictures, after stopping by to check out the bathroom renovations!  :o))

Just LOOK at that design wall...

And the fold away pressing station!!

Here's a shot of the inspiration board and the cutting station:

MORE fabric, a selection of threads, the serging station, and a beautiful view:

What a GREAT space, Joanna!!!  But, look what I found on the way back to the others...

She actually has ANOTHER (larger) design wall... in the BEDROOM!!!

Until next time...
Be creative!!!
