A few photos were taken as people got situated...
Deborah prepared to get to work:
Gayle has made an over-sized Drunkard's Path Quilt using Joanna's templates. It's the latest in her quest to make a Donation Quilt each week of the year. She worked on sewing the binding down:
Hmm... I don't recall seeing THIS bag before:
Oh, wait, Gayle! Hold that quilt up before I have to climb over everyone to take a picture:
Thanks! (And everyone else thanks you, too.) :o))
After cups of coffee and a selection of "Trader Joe's Finest" cookies, we started Show and Tell in earnest. Our members have been busy since our last meeting!
Note: Today's photos are not necessarily posted in the order which events occurred.
Gayle went a little crazy after the Annual Nimble Thimbles Dye Frenzy last Saturday! She dug in her husband's junk pile for items to add interesting texture and created the following Gelli Prints:
I feel fairly certain that Jean has found her star pupil from the mono printing "class"! What do YOU think???
Well done, Gayle!!
Dee Dee passed around the pattern that she used for her latest baby quilt...
... and informed us that it's ready to be layered. She mentioned that Candy is borrowing it as a possibility... for one of the top contenders in the race to a baby quilt. This jogged Candy's memory to announce the news that her new grand child is going to be a GIRL!! :o))
Dee Dee gave some of us another look at her beautiful window Pane 9-Patch, as NT members got the first look at the complete quilt top on Saturday. (The photo is from that meeting.) The "Thursday Girls" hadn't seen it yet and that's OK Dee Dee. We like to see quilts over and over!!
And shared a Donation Quilt that she got from Sarah's stash of to-be-quilted Donation Quilts:
It appears to need a little love (and a meeting with Mr. Seam Ripper.):
Deborah explained how she pinned up the batting for Laura's quilt and found that she needs to make Twenty (20) MORE blocks (so she sat cutting HSTs apart during today's meeting):
Linda worked on her pattern-filing system:
Joanna was doing something mysterious on her computer all morning...
I never DID find out what she was working on!!!
Ella is making a quilt for Jonathan's friend's new sibling and the top is complete:
Ruth B. was busy with some mending:
Oh! That was Ella's new 6FQ Bag! (She added batting and drawstring handles.) Here's one side...
... and the other. Nice job, Ella!
In that 6FQ Bag, Ella brought 3 groups of fabric that she purchased while on her latest trip. The selections included a collection of Stonehenge Fabric: (Joanna will take that color on top!):
A grouping of fabrics that has one more piece already on her design wall...
... and this collection of 5" squares was a bargain that Ella couldn't resist:
Unfortunately, she didn't realize they're a cotton/poly blend. That's OK! She'll find a use for them:
Hold on!!! Candy's phone is ringing. Who could THAT be???
It's Ruth S. arriving (via telephone!):
She arrived partway through Show and Tell. Her TELL is that the wedding went well and she can now begin to think about our CCLQ Retreat. (Items to attend to: plan menu and announce mystery)
At some point, Candy brought out a bag of scraps for Joy:
And Joanna had brought some, too:
Joy was a VERY happy quilter!! (It's comical to see her get so excited about GARBAGE!!!)
Take a look at the OUTSIDE of the Kindle cover that Candy made for a friend:
THIS is a Donation Quilt that Ella made from scraps:
Joanna quilted it with a wave pattern. She wanted to quilt fish in the light areas, but apparently...
... the quilt is allergic to fish!!!
(Joanna had to pick it out and re-quilt that portion.)
Here's the INSIDE of the Kindle cover that Candy put together for a friend:
Finally, with prompting from Dee Dee, Joy shared the news of her recent good fortune...
... and the contents of the box that sat on the couch so long that Dee Dee just HAD to see inside:
By this time, it was time to pack up for lunch. 3 of us left for points unknown, while the others took themselves off to Grill Worx in Mebane. Dee Dee had a hard time letting go of her seam ripper:
Until next time...
Happy Quilting!!!
