1/14/16 - CCLQ @ Cheryl K's

In the coming weeks, should snow fall, you may want to check out the following BLOG POST.  And for those who tend to point out the "flaws" in your projects, visit Did You Make That? for reinforcement of what we tell you (even though you may not blog, it's STILL relevant.)

This week the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters met at Cheryl K's house.  There were 10 members in attendance.  By listening to us chatter, you might have thought that we didn't have a meeting last week.  After more than half an hour of that chatter, SOMEONE (who shall remain nameless) called the meeting to order (so that we could fit in Show and Tell before it was time to break for lunch!)

Most of us have been busy since we last met...

Joy made THIS block with some scraps that she received at DOQ on Monday night:

Her washing machine broke.  Can you guess what the culprit was???  The long lost ring that she bought at Carolina Fiber Festival last year, now bent and broken:

Ella finished her Iris applique panel...

... And brought along the other two for a quilting consult:

She also completed another quilt top (thanks to Joanna contributing some of her leftovers!):

HERE is a close-up (ish) of the nature-inspired print that Joanna contributed:

Oh! I found the "real" close-up:

But, WAIT!!!  Joanna finished the quilting on Ella's Circle of Hope Quilt:

The quilting was done free-hand:

Ella is pleased with the beautiful job that Joanna did.  Take a look at the back:

Ella won one of the Membership Renewal prizes at DOQ:

Joanna was so sweet to snap it up to bring to Ella (before they decided to draw another name!):

Jean worked on a beading project:

Sorry!  I forgot the story of the following photo.  I believe it was an example of echo quilting for Ella to take inspiration from for her Floral Applique Trip-tik:

Deborah was doing a bit of knitting:

Ruth is finishing off another ball of yarn on her lovely scarf:

Dee Dee spent the morning carving a stamp:

Joanna looked through some of the books and magazines that Joy bought at Monday evening's DOQ Fundraising Auction:

Candy (Grandmommy) is prepared to WOW us with her Woven Table Runner:

Cheryl K. worked on the binding (and providing bits of fabric and interfacing to some of our members.)  It was quite comical seeing her running back and forth to her sewing room:

Speaking of WOW-ing us!!  Jean has the top of her Dresden on Steroids quilt ready for quilting:

This block has a Boston Red Socks patch as its center:

This one has multiple circles.  Each one block is SEW different:

Jean also brought along her Circle Shrug:

Here she is modeling it the "short" was around:

Do YOU know why  Jean is so happy???  Cheryl K. had JUST the right thing to hold her shrug in place!  Take a look at the beautiful shawl pin:

Speaking of Cheryl K...  Look who finished another bag:

After perusing the books and magazines, Joanna got to work on a sketch for a new quilt:

Here's a close-up of Dee Dee's carving:

Another look at the pattern that Candy used...

For THIS amazing table runner:

Here's a better look at what Joanna was sketching out:

Deborah brought her loot from the DOQ Silent Auction.  Quilt Lady hot pads:

Fancy Japanese kimono silk:

And some pretty purple material that feels silky, but may be a poly-rayon blend:

We missed Ruth S. and Linda, but they'll be back with us some other time.  Ella went off to have lunch with her daughter and the rest of us went to Rasa.  YUM!!

Until next time...
Keep Quilting!!!
