 1/7/2016 CCLQ @ DeeDee's

Happy New Year!  We had a big group at DeeDee's with yummy chocolate chip cookies from Weaver Street Market and hot coffee. Lots of creativity here today!
Announcements: (from previous post)

The Bluff Mystery "Reveal" will the held at the January NT Meeting @ Margaret's house on 1/23/16. Please plan to attend... or bring your project to CCLQ on 1/28/16 @ Joy's house!!!

Bring ANY SIZE quilt block for Gayle's 65th birthday, Scraps from your Bluff Mystery for Ruth S. ONLY if you attended the NY Retreat, and we will celebrate Ruth B's birthday, as well.  This will ALL take place on 1/21/16 at Ruth B's house.

For those who attended the Retreat, your Bluff Block Challenge is due on 1/28/16 @ Joy's house. Can't WAIT to see what everyone has made!!

Show and Tell:
DeeDee created a leaf print carved on a Dollar Store eraser.
Here's a close up of the leaf carving.
Here's another carving of a seed pod created on a commercially available printing block.
DeeDee's sample of the leaf print on fabric.

Gayle is working on making more hexies.

Gayle received her first birthday blocks!

Linda was so happy to join us today!

Linda showed a cute new quilt pattern:  Hazel Hedgehog.

Ruth B. continued knitting a scarf.
It's almost done...just in time for cooler winter weather.
Cheryl completed this quilt top from some UFO blocks she found.
Most everyone wanted to see Cheryl's gorgeous quilt again.  Joanna did the beautiful long arm quilting for this quilt. The group discussed colors for the binding.
Cheryl found yet another UFO. This time it was the applique project that Gayle taught a while back.
Maybe this will be a spring time table runner?
Candy shared a cool new Dritz Quick Turn Tool.
Here's how it works...first, insert the plastic tube into the fabric tube.
 Second, scrunch it down.
Third, scrunch almost to the end. One option is to have a seam across the end of your fabric tube or to save time, just fold the end over a few times.
Fourth, poke the wooden dowel in the tube.
Fifth, once the fabric comes out the other end of the plastic tube, pull the entire fabric tube out. Of course, press with an iron for your project.
Joy was busy knitting a cowl from cotton yarn reclaimed from a size 4T sweater.
Joy also shared an indigo block for a wedding quilt she's making.

Ruth S. showed a spectacular Bluff House block. This was the sewing house when we visited the Bluff in September.
Ruth S. also worked on the binding for a quilt that Joanna made.
Joanna showed a Quilts of Valor Donation quilt.
Chocolate chip cookies and coffee....what could be better?
Deborah showed an easy knitted cowl.  Here's the link for the pattern: www.allfreeknitting.com/Cowls/Purple-Passion-Knit-Cowl-Pattern-From-Red-Heart

We missed Jean today, but Dee Dee shared a photo of Jean's delicious GelliPrint Quilt.

Until next time, happy quilting!
