4/6/17: CCLQ @ Britt's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week eight quilters met at Britt's home.  Britt treated us to delicious muffins and blueberry corn bread. The yummy treats and a special sipping surprise from Joanna kept the quilters in the kitchen for a while....until they saw this....

This lovely garden gate quilt was made by Britt.
What was keeping those quilters in the kitchen?

Yes...ladies...it's special Blenheim Ginger Ale made with real ginger and oh so spicy.   Thank you Joanna for bringing this treat all the way from South of the Border, S.C.

Britt has started a new appliqué project...Stars and Sprigs by Kim McLean.

Here's the spectacular Stars and Sprigs quilt pattern cover.

Here's the inspiration photo for Britt's NC Botanical Garden Wildflower of the Year quilt. This year's flower is Joe-Pye Weed.

Here's the almost finished quilt. Well done Britt!  Wonderful design and quilting! The flowers look three dimensional.
TIP of the WEEK:

Do you ever wonder what to do with wavy edges after you've densely quilted a project?

Britt shared this cool strategy to remedy those wavy edges...baste along the edge and pull that quilt into smooth submission!

Ta da!  Ruth B has twelve of her "Twirling in Reverse" blocks assembled.  Way to go Ruth!

Just look at Ruth's quilt against Britt's creamy wall color....dramatic and elegant.

DeeDee was busy at work on her hour glass blocks which will be made into a dresser scarf to coordinate with the night stand mini quilt.

Linda showed this Jacqueline deJonge pattern that she bought in Houston.

Linda shared that Wish Upon a Quilt will host  2 classes by Jacqueline deJonge in August 2017.  Here's the link to one of the classes.

Linda shared this last week, however the blog photographer missed it!  Anyway, this is a delightful bag made by the parent of one of her students with fabric from the class quilt project.

Candy shared this lovely table runner made for a wedding gift.

Close up of the quilting....nice work Candy!

Joanna made this extraordinary Escher inspired wall hanging for the NCQS silent auction.

Britt shared some quilting techniques she learned at a recent  Patsy Thompson class.
More designs....very cool...
A mandala design from the workshop...

Ruth S worked on the binding for one of the baby quilts made with her new Bernina or "Savannah" as we affectionately call her.

Here's a big view of the baby quilt.  By the way...Ruth loves her new machine!
Big news from Ruth S....plans are in the making for a return trip to   The Bluff in 2018!!!!!

Britt graciously gave us a tutorial on how to use the Patsy Thompson rulers.

Take a look at Patsy website...she has many interesting tools to help make machine quilting easier!

Close up  of the ruler...

Seven quilters dined at Hillsborough BBQ.

Until next week....keep on quilting!
