9/12/19 - CCLQ in the Wild @ SECU Family House

Welcome to another edition of CCLQ in the Wild!!  On September 12th the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters met at SECU Family House for a sew day hosted by Jean. The group made Christmas stockings for US Army Service men and women in Afghanistan.  The SECU Family House staff plan to fill the stockings with gifts and goodies for the holidays.

Everyone got busy for a day of sewing!
Our large table was just right for ten quilters!

The board room at Family House was a hive of activity.

Joy sews strips on to some felt.
Joys shows the front strip piece and the back piece.

The next step is trimming the stockings. Then the pieces are sewn together and a cuff and ribbon are added.
Jean made this stocking to match the star quilt.
Here's the wonderful quilt Jean made for the commanding officer of the troop.

Jean embroidered this label for the back of the quilt.
Jean and Candy are volunteers at Family House.
A surprise for Joanna
Joanna received a special ruler as a thank you for all her volunteer work quilting donation quilts!

Hugs are the best thank you!

Six stockings finished!

Can you find nine stockings on the pile of holiday fabric?
Aren't these stockings beautiful? The group will make thirty stockings.

After lunch there was a bit of "show and tell."  Thanks to Joy for sending the following photos and several group photos for this blog.

Looks like Carol used her fabric trimmings to make a necklace??

Candy shares her lovely cross body bag.

Joy shows some wonderful quilting using the Quilt As You Go" method.

Joy made a cute mug rug.

Here's the bag of the mug rug.

Joy made this adorable fabric box.
Ella restored her grandson's baby quilt.

Carol started a Quilt As You Go Log Cabin quilt.
