3/12/2020: CCLQ at Deborah's

Greetings from the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!   On  March 12th eleven quilters met at Deborah's home. This is a special time for friends to get together. In the past few weeks, we spoke only briefly about the COVID-19 virus.  Today our group opened with a longer discussion about what was happening and how we felt about it.  Each week there are more and more restrictions placed on our lives. We were grateful to have a meeting face to face on March 12th.  Who knows if we'll get to meet next week?  Ruth S graciously shared some face masks with everyone in the group.

Cheryl shared this beautiful baby quilt which she finished.
Cheryl  used a serpentine stitch to quilt this colorful quilt.
Joanna completed two lovely table toppers for SECU Family House Volunteer brunch.
Joanna made this lovely modern fabric bag.
Could this be Ella's colorful fabric?  It's next to the Butterfly Quilt.
Ella is making great progress on her butterfly quilt.
Ella created her own pattern for the appliqué butterflies.
Here's the pattern for Ella's Butterly Dance quilt.
Ella shared this wonderful disappearing four patch block.  Click here to find directions for making this block.  Ella suggested that we have a sew day to make some quilts using this pattern.

DeeDee made two wonderful table toppers for the SECU Family House Volunteer Brunch.

DeeDee shared this awesome quilt with a story.  Ruth S started this quilt years ago but didn't finish it.  She gave it to DeeDee who completed it and then Sarah Porreca quilted it.  DeeDee added a jazzy binding.
DeeDee also worked on cutting a bunch of half square triangle blocks.
DeeDee shared this photo of her gorgeous new garden gate!

Carol attended a retreat for machine embroidery at  G's Quilt and Craft Retreat Center in Hillsborough, NC. She made this lovely pillow just in time for the season.
Candy was very happy to receive some dilly pickles from Ruth S.
Candy showed photos of the wonderful placemats she made for her niece.
Here's another placemat from Candy.  She used beautiful exotic Indonesian fabric for these.
Remember the transportation fabric panel Ruth S showed last week?  Wow!  Ruth and her granddaughter made this baby quilt for a neighbor.  It was the first time her granddaughter used the sewing machine!  Everyone was excited that Ruth's granddaughter showed an interested in sewing. What a wonderful project!

Gayle has been busy studying portrait painting online with  Matt Philleo.
Here's Gayle amazing portrait of her grandson.
Maggie shared this beautiful hour glass quilt which she made using scraps from Lisa's mom.
Close up
Maggie shared blocks for the Bunk Bed Quilt Project.

Here's the pattern.
Here's the fabric...it was from Pineapple Fabric donation quilt bag.

Deborah worked on the binding of her Ella donation quilt  and also shared this photo of a quilt  from Bernina World of Sewing in Raleigh. Gayle and Deborah visited Bernina and Wish Upon a Quilt last week to use their DOQ gift cards and found some good sale fabric and thread. We thought Ruth S would like this quilt and she immediately identified it as one of McKenna Ryan's.  The blocks are laser cut. Click on the link to see a closer image of these wonderful blocks. By the way...you can purchase one block at a time.

Until the next time we're together....I wanted to find some clever words to say.  If we can't meet face to face, we'll find some other way!

Bee well!
