5/18/23: CCLQ at Cheryl’s

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week the quilters met at Cheryl’s home.  We started the meeting with a tour of Cheryl’s new camper and her beautiful garden. The photographer forgot to take a photo of the outside of the camper. Oh well…lots of photos today and be sure to check out the links to some cool free quilt patterns.

No camper would be complete without a beautiful quilt!

Hope you find some inspiration in Cheryl’s lovely garden.

Beautiful butterfly quilt in Cheryl’s kitchen.

Maggie shared this lovely donation quilt made with blocks from Tonya and stars made by Maggie.

DeeDee shared this fish themed fabric that she plans to make a thank you quilt for her neighbor.

DeeDee found some companion fabric for the fish quilt at Calla Lily quilts in Greensboro.

DeeDee plans to use this bird fabric to make a quilt for a friend who is a bird watcher.

This is the companion fabric for the bird panel and may be a border or a backing.

DeeDee also found the gray, green, blue and yellow at Calla Lily.

Carol reported that she’s working on a challenge quilt using a block within a block method.

Here’s a photo of the technique.

We were excited to see Joy! She made this cute journal called, “Messy May.” The journal project was an art challenge from Instagram.

She used an old yellow envelope for the cover.

The inside had pages based up a daily prompt.

Joy shared tales of her trip to Quiltville Inn Retreat Center

While at Quiltville Inn, Joy made table runner and also brought a project that she started ten years ago to work on.

Joy also started this purple quilt.

Lynda shared her lovely Cinnamon Stick Quilt!

Lynda’s next project is this quilt using Tilda fabrics.

Lynda’s collection of Tilda fabrics.

Lynda plans to use the cream color for the background of her new project.

Cheryl received a gift of Charley Harper bird fabrics and asked for suggestions on how to use this wonderful fabric.
Who is Charley Harper?   Check Here to find out.
Deborah found a photo on Pinterest of a quilt made with these fabrics. SuzyQuilts

At Suzy Quilts website, she has a second free pattern for using Charley Parker bird fabric.  Check it out Here

One more free pattern for scrappy quilts.  Thanks to Joy for telling us more about this pattern.  It’s called Portal  by Ricky Tims and the block is called Lady Fingers.

Ruth B worked on her binding today and returned the Tulip Pattern to Lynda Mac.

Linda H reported that she’s been working on the Crane panel and ordered some navy blue fabric for it.  She needed a flying geese pattern and Cheryl had the exact size flying geese pattern and made a copy for Linda H.  Maggie later emailed the group with directions for making flying geese blocks.

Deborah continues to work on the Catch the Sun Quilt.

Gayle has been busy gardening and working outside. She had an adventure with a black snake in her shed and had a wonderfully funny story about her lawn mower.

Until next time….  “In the quilt of life, friends are the stitches that hold it together.”
