6/23/16 CCLQ @ Joanna's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  Joanna welcomed six quilters with the aroma of freshly baked  dump/coffee cake and coffee.

Announcements:  Mary Jo's is having a BIG sale on July 9th. http://maryjos.com/

DeeDee reported that The Modern Quilt Guild is having a show in February 2017 in Savannah.  http://www.quiltconeast.com/about/about-savannah/  Could this bee a road trip for the CCLQ?

The group had previously discussed going to the AQS Quilt Week in Paducah, KY  in April 2017.  Are folks still interested in this?  Here's a link: http://www.paducah.travel/quilting/aqs-quiltweek-paducah/
Ella asked that someone coordinate this since she and Barry will go to see family on the way there.

Jean shared information about a great blog on quilts written by Judi Madsen. http://www.greenfairyquiltsblog.com/

Jean also described some stunning quilts made by Lily Kinross-Wright, former DOQ president.  Wish I had photos of the quilts to share!  Lily used "Radiance" fabric which is a cotton/silk blend. https://www.fabric.com/buy/bz-145/kaufman-radiance-cotton-silk-satin-champagne.

Show and Tell:
Dee Dee offered this book to anyone with  a a PC computer. There were no takers, so she may donate it to the DOQ Library.

DeeDee shared this beautiful block print and several versions of the print on various fabrics.
Dee Dee showed this fabulous quilt top!

She then asked the group for feedback on border colors and widths.
Should the aqua border be narrow?
What about a three inch purple border?  Stay tuned to see what kind of border will be attached to this awesome quilt!

Jean found this lovely silk shirt at the Cole Park Plaza PTA Thrift Shop in Chatham County.  She deconstructed it to use in a quilt. Can't wait to see what Jean creates with this!

Here's a lovely donation quilt.  Ella made the quilt top, Joanna rescued the top, added a border and quilted it!

Ella shared this quilt pattern with folks who were interested in making it.
Joanna was busy cutting blocks for the Heart Donation Quilt for Orlando. http://theorlandomodernquiltguild.blogspot.com/2016/06/donation-quilts-for-pride-orlando.html

Joanna also shared a wonderful kid's quilt top from the Tuesday Group that she has been asked to quilt.

Gayle worked on something that was not photo ready. Boy, the substitute blogger really needs those photos to help remember what folks were doing! Ruth B. worked on her landscape quilt and maybe something else?

Deborah was the substitute blogger so took photos and should have taken more notes? She also brought the label for the Bluff Quilt.  The label was mailed to Ruth S. after today's bee!

Six folks went to Bennett Point Grill...Linda met the group for lunch.  http://www.bpgrill.com/

We missed seeing Joy and our traveling quilters...Candy and Cheryl K and look forward to hearing about your adventures. We also miss Ruth S and look forward to your return!

Till next week... "You know that feeling when you've finished all your quilting projects and your studio is perfectly clean?  Me neither!"  from quiltingdaily.com.
