6/9/16 CCLQ at Cheryl's

Welcome to the June 9th meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters at Cheryl K's house.  Cheryl provided delicious homemade cookies, coffee, and tea for today's meeting.  Seven quilters attended and we missed DeeDee and Ella...hope y'all are feeling better real soon!

Jean was busy making a few changes to a dazzling tote bag.  Jean attended NCQS  and said one of her favorite vendors had bamboo silk fabric.  Can't wait to see what Jean makes with this!  I think she said she already made something???

Here's a close up on the doggies on this one. Check out the wonderful thread painting for the dog's fur!  Well done Jean!

Here's the front view of the tote bag.

Willie...our honorary canine member of CCLQ....??? added a surprise inside the bag!
Candy found a free pattern online and has already made three handbags! Wow. Aren't these nice?  They have zipper pockets on each side and interior pockets too.  Here's the medium size one.

Here's the small version.  The large version was in her car...please bring it to next meeting Candy and I'll get a photo of it!

Joanna brought this pamphlet from NCQS and shared it with the group. Here's the link:  www.thecreativethimble.com

Here's a sample of handbag accessories available.

Cheryl made this lovely rayon top. Cheryl also worked on the binding on a quilt...oops didn't get a photo of that.

Ruth shared her Maple Leaf blocks.

Ruth also attended NCQS and found this irresistible pack of fat quarters.

Joanna attended NCQS and had lots to share.  She enjoyed the Accidental Landscape class.

Now for the exercise portion of the blog...please gently turn your head to the left, hold and view this "accidental landscape" Joanna's working on. Don't hold too long...we don't want any injuries! :)

Joanna took Jamie Wallen's longarm quilting class and created some fun designs.

Joanna loved Lyric Kinard's Abstractilicous class. Here's Lyric's website: http://lyrickinard.com/ "It was so much FUN!" Here's a sketch in which they used a blank piece of paper with a small square view hole and sketched objects in the room.

Cheryl takes a turn looking through the square.
Here's Joanna's creation from that exercise.

More fun from Lyric's class.

This could be a design for Joanna's next quilt?

"Color gets all the credit, value does all the work." (author unknown) This was an exercise in looking at value and color.

Doodle to music. Look closely and you can see the music title.  Look very very closely!

Another design idea from the Abstractilicous class!  Wow!

Joanna found fabric for this quilt!  She also said she found a vendor from SC...http://www.hwfabrics.com/
Deborah continues to stitch away on the Texas Star quilt.
Oh those lovely rainbow colors of the Texas Star....someday it will be finished!!!!

Gayle shared that she has the foundation ready for the birthday block quilt and will begin to applique the blocks on the quilt top!  Everyone is eager to see this quilt!

Five folks dined at Rasa Malaysia in Chapel Hill. http://www.rasamalaysiach.com/

Till next time....keep on quilting, sewing, and having fun whatever you do!!!
