12/8/16 - CCLQ @ Jean's

Welcome to this week's meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!!  Today we were hosted by Jean.  Eight members showed up for quilty chatter and sharing ...

The Food, fresh husband-made cinnamon rolls...

The Decorations, everywhere you looked...

The Dog, greeting the quilters then collapsing in a heap...

The Show and Tell...

Joy has been busy making Christmas Trees:

Cheryl has her Winter Wall Hanging pieced and partially quilted:

Joy made a Hot and Cold Corners block for Covered in Love:

Cheryl brought her spoils from last week's CCLQ Field Trip:

Members asked for a LINK to the O Christmas Tree tutorial:

Cheryl has another Table Runner planned:

Ella has nothing to show:

ANOTHER fabric collection with the proposed pattern.  It looks like Cheryl will be REALLY busy between now and Christmas:

She's practicing feathers to prepare for quilting:

Cheryl also added some blues to her stash:

Candy made another Table Topper:

THIS is the pattern (from Jaybird Quilts) that she used:

Her Plaid Parade quilt that she made for Lilly is from the same quilt pattern designer:

Ruth S. made a special gift with antique hankies and decorations:

Candy brought her Law Enforcement quilt:

She got her first patch in the mail and printed off the creed to see how that would look on the front of the quilt:

REMINDER!!!  We divided the list.  Members, contact your selected/assigned agency to request a patch to add to your quilt.

I was able to get a close-up of Ruth S's Hanky Quilt:

We adjourned to The Dry Studio for a Feather demo by Jean!!

We noticed some quilts hanging on the design wall.  First, her Law Enforcement Quilt:

Then, her beautiful Shott Cotton Quilt:

The Feathers...

An aside about printing on fabric.  Jean uses PFD cotton:

The trick is clipping the corners on the leading edge.  The part that goes in the printer first:

Jean had samples prepared:

She gave a mini-lecture:

She entertained questions and had handouts:

Jean talked us through a demonstration:

Another prepared sample, different technique:

She also had loads of resources available:

Cheryl K. was anxious to give feathering a try:

Deborah did half a feather:

Hers are the ones on the top and Joy finished up the bottom section of that feather:

Looking at Cheryl's feather, it's obvious that each person's feathers are as individual as their signature:

Jean has inspiration images posted on one end of her design wall:

Jean also had a video playing for some of us to watch while others experimented with the techniques shown:

Last, we were invited into the Wet Studio for a look at what Ella plans to quilt on her Peppermint Quilt.  Thanks goes to Jean for drawing out the design plan:

She MAY even add FEATHERS:

Ruth B. was the last to have a turn:

The Bombshell...

Joy told Deborah that she needed to have her camera ready after the first of the year.  Deb was somewhat confused by this statement.

The meaning behind the announcement???

A new little distraction has presented itself.  Therefore, Joy will no longer be able to attend Thursday meetings.  Indefinitely.  Period.

Several members suggested that we should change our meeting day to Wednesday, so that Joy can continue to do our blog posts.  While that is certainly up for discussion, Joy is in NO WAY pushing for a change to occur!!!  That is TOTALLY up to the discretion of the entire group.  Place your ballots, quilters.

The Lunch...

Until next time...
Stay warm!!!
