5/18/17 CCLQ @ Ruth B's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!  Six quilters met at the home of Ruth B.  Joy took the day off  to attend NC Quilt Symposium so she was able to come to our morning meeting. Everyone was excited to see Joy especially Deborah who was so happy to have Joy helping with photos and encouraging people to smile for the camera! Thank you Joy!

We were delighted to see Joy at our meeting!

Cheryl talked about options for the wedding quilt that she's making for her son and daughter-in-law.

Here's the block design for the quilt.

Britt showed more of the Geese Migration blocks. Can't wait to see all of these wonderful color gradations assembled into the quilt top!
Here's Ruth's elegant Twirling in Reverse Quilt made with reproduction fabrics.

Ruth auditioned border options and the group liked this one.  Other options were discussed too.  Stay tuned to future blogs to see the outcome for the borders for this delightful quilt.

DeeDee finished her soft, cotton knit nightgown.

DeeDee shared the flyer for the PAQA South exhibition. Several folks expressed an interest in attending this event in Cary, NC. Hmmm...maybe a quilt exhibit and a trip to the newly relocated Cary Quilting Company?

DeeDee also shared this flyer about the the Original Sewing and Quilt Expo coming up in July! This expo will have classes, a quilt exhibit, and vendors!! Lots of fun adventures will be available to quilters this summer!
Who made these adorable tiny animals?

DeeDee and Deborah recently spent some time with Charlotte, a friend and former co-worker, creating these cute needle felted animals. Click on this link to see an adorable video about needle felting.

Deborah asked for advice on which solid color to add to these bright Tula Pink fabrics.  She will use this fabric to make a quilt for the Independent Animal Rescue Auction. The group voted for gray.

Ruth showed her charming landscape quilt.
DeeDee spent time sketching some sunflowers.

The group went to Radius Pizza in downtown Hillsborough for lunch.

Until next time.....enjoy and have fun at the NC Quilt Symposium.
