Business...
No real "business" portion was required this time around. I suppose that a review of this year's calendar could be in order, as January - June was scheduled at last year's final meeting:
February 15th - NT @ SECU Family House Sew Day co-hosted by Kirsten and Ruth S. (with Helena available as an alternate.)
March 14th - NT @ Candy's
April 18th - NT @ Margaret's
May 23rd - NT @ Dee Dee's
June 13th - NT @ Gayle's
Please note, calendar updates can be found within the tabs just below the header of our blog. Additions and changes will be made there, as scheduled.
SHOW and TELL...
Joy started us off with a photo with her benefactor. Jean brought a bag of scraps to share:
Dee Dee went first for Show and Tell. She's working on a challenge piece for the Original Works group. From this...
... She remade it into a more colorful version:
Gayle did a lovely new painting and talked about her process:
Acrylics on canvas. About 20 layers of paint when complete:
Linda had a TELL:
Only 90 (working) days until retirement!!! Also, she went to her "home" quilt shop up in Charlottesville and stopped at A Thread Runs Through It (which was a disappointment.)
Ruth B. got new side tables for her living room:
Jean had a TELL:
They've been shopping for a new car for 2 years and finally bought a smaller-than-a-minivan SUV.
She also had another TELL:
Her refrigerator died over the holidays. While company was there! They lived out of the "bar fridge" for 2 weeks.
Jean went shopping in Margaret's Silent Auction items:
Margaret showed off the Quilt Calendar/Kit that she got from a friend for Christmas:
Believe it or not, this fabric was NOT fussy cut:
Here's a closer look at the calendar:
Lynda needed a break from applique and embroidery
She did the straight line quilting...
... And Britt will do FMQ in the big white squares:
Speaking of Britt... She had a TELL:
She is quilting on the border of her Jamestown Landing.
Carol started a QAYG Attic Window quilted wall hanging...
... For herself:
Joy sneaks a peek at the scrap bag that Jean brought her:
Ruth B's mantle art found in her garage:
Margaret had a TELL:
Since DS2 had such a hard time finding an apartment, her DH decided to have a look. He couldn't find anything, either! This led them to purchase a house for their son to rent. Margaret is having a grand time thrifting for furniture and finishings!
My apologies to Britt and Linda for missing their photo op.
Until next time...
QUILT, eat, repeat!!!
