12/14 - NT @ Carol's Christmas House

Welcome to the December meeting of the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Bee!!!  SIXTEEN members gathered at Carol's house for our annual Holiday Pot Luck.  YUM!!!  Thanks SEW much for hosting us, Carol.  Thank you to everyone who brought items to round out our meal, too!

NOTICE:  Carol's home has beautiful transom windows.

DISCLAIMER:  A number the photos have "sun spots."

Margaret borrowed her husband's festive jacket and tie so that we could have our own "Elf on the Shelf" in attendance:

As with every meeting, we start out with mingling and jingling:

Hmm... It appears that Carol has been busy making ornaments:

SEW many hugs, as members greet one another:

Coffee and catching up:

As the last guests arrive...

... Members move to their seats and the meeting begins:

photto!!

Helena was able to join us today:

TELL: She painted her room.

Lynda brought her year's work on Sue Spargo's Forest For the Trees:

Here's a close-up of some of the detailed stitching:

Pattern Ease helps tremendously with placement:

The border has been revealed:

Jean made an embroidered blanket for Willie's sitter:

Ruth B. shared her recent Pineapple purchases of MORE black and white prints for her son's quilt:

Britt also brought Pineapple shopping:

Autumn abstract landscape purchases...

Along with her recently completed Pecking Order quilt made with Tuscany batting for easy quilting.  It's puffy and lightweight:

Britt's happy to be able to gift it soon:

Candy also shared her (less random) Pecking Order quilt made with smaller blocks for a lap quilt:

She made a new Tote Bag from her failed tepee attempt:

Candy requested suggestions for this Malaysian batik...

... Which she hasn't been able to bring herself to cut:

Gayle has found a way to her painting with her quilting:

Take a closer look at this piece:

Oh!  Come a little closer to see where paint and fabrics merge:

Between members sharing, Ruth B, steadily works on her binding:

Gayle brought gifts for those not at last week's CCLQ meeting:

Inside the fabric-wrapped parcels were sleep masks and small journals made from Gayles own jelli prints:

DeeDee shared Reusable Grocery Bags and a Simplified iPad cover:

She also brought along Harbor's Big Boy quilt:

TELL:  This is her BEST pieced quilt EVER!!

This is a better look at the Simplified iPad Cover...

Here is a closer look at the Reusable Grocery Bag fabrics:

Cheryl K. is here with no show OR tell:

Kirsten showed her progress on Santa #12:

TELL:  She now has a floor in her bedroom with NO holes!!!

Carol confirmed my suspicions about this platter of ornaments:

Carol made these as gifts for everyone in our group.  Thank you, Carol!

The pattern can be found at Highland Quilt Guild:

Please note:  These are easy to make, but even making FIFTY didn't make a dent in Carol's scraps!!

Ruth S. has been in a funk, but after Thursday's CCLQ meeting she went home and made these pillow cases with leftover squares from her daughter's Blooming 9-Patch quilt by attaching a border to store-bought cases:

Cheryl B. forgot her Show and Tell at home, but worked on prairie points for her next Blooming 9-Patch quilt:

TELL:  She did another B9P from a Demo & another from a Sew Day at AAQC.
It was a week of passings, so she is feeling very sad.

Linda purchases purples at Pineapple for a Colorworx Quilt like Candy's gray one, but with a black background for her supervisor:

TELL:  Only 96 more working days until retirement!!!

Margaret completed her latest Plaid QAYG quilt for the VA:

2 x 3.5" scraps form the wonderful QAYG quilt:

Front and back, together:

Margaret used 10" squares for the backing:

Here is a close-up of an individual block:

She also made this Table Runner for the Lake House:

Margaret used a pattern from Sew Mama Sew to make this Pinwheel Quilt for Sleep in Heavenly Peace:

Look at this adorable Advent Calendar in Carol's hallway:

It's time for a new group picture:

And one with our trusty photographer:

Smile for Ella!!

She is the ONLY one missing today:

A friendly elf (Thanks, Candy!) brought Joy a bag of scraps:
