1/9/2020 CCLQ at Ruth S

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week nine quilters met at the home of Ruth S.  Thank you to Ruth for hosting today!

Ruth S finished another donation quilt and is ready to give it to Joanna for quilting.
This fabric will be the backing of the quilt.

Ruth S made this lovely tropical inspired table runner for some friends who live in Florida.
Why is Gayle so happy?  She completed another wonderful winter painting!

Deborah shared the latest edition of Curated Quilts.  Curated Quilts is a quarterly journal full of inspiration, stories, and more about quilts including patterns and challenges.

Ruth B enjoyed looking at this edition of CQ which featured Black and White quilts.

Carol started a new Quilt As You Go quilt with awesome cardinal birds.

DeeDee is almost done with binding this spectacular quilt.

DeeDee bought this whimsical  quilt at the Senior Center.  Jennifer Cummings made the quilt and Sarah Porreca quilted it.

Joanna shared this wonderful peppermint candy quilt which was made by Ella.

Close up of the excellent piecing and lovely quilting!

Ella was pleasantly surprised!

Ella shared that she has made 15 quilt labels and sewed them on quilts.  She has about 18-20 quilt labels to go.   Ella also reported that she finished a quilt for a friend.

Maggie's friend gave her the Sweet Sampler Calendar and kit as a gift.  The idea is that you make two blocks a month and by the end of the year you have enough blocks for a big quilt.
Here's one of the adorable blocks in the kit.
The group speculated as to whether Maggie could stop at just two blocks a month!  Read our subsequent blog posts to find out if Maggie makes more or less blocks!!!

Maggie shared a technique for accurate trimming of half square triangles.
Blue painter's tape is applied to the back of the  ruler.  This tape connects with the fabric to hold it in place for trimming.  Thanks for the tip Maggie!!!
Maggie got a new phone and her husband gave her this cool case cover.

Until next time,  happy quilting.
