(9/25) FRIDAY - SEW DAY, More Show & Tell, Retreat Challenge and Favors
Good morning, pier!!!
Good morning, lake breezes! Watch as they push the clouds away:
A better view in the light of day:
Get busy, quilters...
Deborah goes to town:
What's that Joy, ONE cone of thread wasn't enough for a 3-day retreat:
Candy's blue and green "equal signs" zip through her machine:
Stitch, Ruth B., stitch:
Joanna went just the opposite with her "newfangled" Janome Jem Platinum:
Britt often walks with Dee Dee at home. Here, in Upstate New York, she went on a hike with our "tour guide", Donna. All the way out to the lighthouse pier... and back! Watch for more on that in a separate post, but here is a photo of her rock/sea glass collection from her early-morning excursion:
Here's hoping that Katharine shows up soon! Ruth S. needs someone to keep her company:
One lone sailboat:
That one is joined by three other sailboats, so, you know it's a breezy day:
Three chairs. Waiting for sunset:
Step AWAY from the sewing machine, Joanna! It's time for lunch:
WAIT!!! Just a FEW more pictures inside before heading over to the Dining Cottage:
OK... Now we're off!! :P
The junk mail gets its own mailbox here:
Speaking of mailboxes...
Donna's friend, Mae Ann arrived bearing gifts... donuts from Rochester:
Did anyone get a photo of the one shaped like a pretzel and was as big as a dinner plate???
Not in box two:
THIS is the one I was talking about! It was in box THREE and took up almost the entire space:
Is this a better shot of the Bargain of the Year??? Don't YOU just LOVE this quilt???
On FRIDAY afternoon, Joy handed out "party favors" and announced the Retreat Challenge.
Candy looks happy with her choice:
Stop sewing, Ruth, and pick your Challenge print:
Deborah chose her own "Joy original":
Ruth B. got one of Jean's prints that Joy embellished:
Joanna also got a "Jean original":
Ruth S. chose one for herself and one for Katharine:
Jean's "marble" print was PERFECT for Donna:
Do you see a quilt label? Britt's mono print matches the quilt that she's working on:
Will Jean want to participate in the Challenge??? I doubt it, since she wasn't able to come with us. If not, Joy has the "prototype" AND the circle print all to herself!!! Double-sided tote bag, anyone:
Here's the deal... Make SOMETHING from these "party favors" by the end of January 2016. ANYTHING!! Sew it onto a T-shirt, into a bag, frame it as a piece of art... the possibilities are limitless. We can't WAIT to see what YOU do!!! (Watch for an update in early February.)
NEXT...
Ruth offered a "Yankee Swap" for retreat Door Prizes. According to her, Katharine made her do it:
Mae Ann was our "Swap Elf":
Ruth S. made this special piece, which ended up being the ONLY item that was "stolen":
Here, she tells the background for this adorable button-embellished piece:
Wanna see what everyone got??? Of COURSE you do!!!
Joanna:
Ruth B:
Britt (showing Katharine's prize, too):
Look up, Candy:
Deborah:
Donna:
Cheesy grin:
JUST...
CAN'T
WHICH IS THE BEST SHOT!!!
This one's a keeper!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o))
Now, just CCLQ Girls...
Too hard to choose which photo is best!! What do YOU think? Serious or silly???
And one of the brains (and brawn) behind CCLQ @ The Bluff quilt retreat:
THEN...
It was back inside for a bit more work...
Joanna was experimenting, again. This time, with a pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Co.:
Raspberry Field Greens, the quilt that Britt hasn't been allowing herself to start:
The saying on the framed print that Ruth S. made (and Deborah was lucky enough to win):
Watch how an artist uses a rotary cutter:
Somehow... Donna talked Mae Ann into basting her quilt:
The Pressing Room (and what you're NOT being shown is that it also serves as the Snack Porch):
More of Britt's Raspberry Field Greens quilt (with the "muddier" greens replaced):
How ARE we going to put our Mystery pieces together???
It's still a mystery, but here is Deborah's guess:
Hey, you guys!! It's almost time for watching the sun go down.
Going...
Going...
@ sunset we met Holly and saw her Bluff Quilt:
PHOTO UNAVAILABLE!!! Did anyone else get a shot of it? I guess my picture didn't turn out.
NOTE: If you are like my friend, Knittingsuek, walk away from your computer now. MORE sunset pics to follow... because I was trying to catch the PERFECT image of the beauty we experienced... and then I had trouble determining which shots to include for your viewing pleasure... so you get (almost) ALL of them!!!
Are YOU jealous, yet?!?! :P
Gone!
Isn't the afterglow spectacular???
We interrupt the afterglow to bring you a shot that was too sweet to miss:
Joanna, snuggling with Petunia, at sunset:
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.................................
Dinner... Thank you, Simon, for sharing your prize winning salmon! Your Nana found an excellent recipe and Papa did a GREAT job with grilling it to perfection:
Look at the quirky pass-through in the Dining Cottage:
Ruth made sure that there was a quilt on every bed! This was my favorite:
Just LOOK how bright the moon is:
No photos of the late night sewing this time, but Britt helped Joy line up her Mystery blocks. (Thanks for the help, Britt!)
Until next time...
RETREAT!!!
