(9/26) SATURDAY - Fast Finish and Farewell to The Bluff
This morning dawn as beautiful as the mornings that came before, but there was a tinge of sadness in the air. Here are some shots of the scenery:
It's SEW quiet here:
Good morning, Canada. Thirty miles away. We'll miss you, as we drive south today:
I decided to walk to breakfast, since Candy didn't need a ride to the Dining Cottage...
Turn by the black and white markers to get to the beach:
Hey!! The sun is beginning to peek through:
Here's the "inland" path to the Quilt Cottage:
Notice the play of light up in the tree:
THIS one is for Britt!! She's been trying to catch a photo of the chipmunks since we arrived:
Oops!! He's going back into hiding:
Quilters, sew those final seams!!
Ruth B. is busy stitching on her Mystery:
Britt gets serious about making her Broken Dishes blocks:
PLEASE NOTE: Several photos were removed from this post to preserve the Mystery for the other members of our group. They haven't yet gotten a chance to work through all the clues.
Katharine returned to share the appliqued Magnolia Quilt that she has been working on:
Here's a close-up:
Joanna came up with the following:
TOO funny!!! (I wonder if she was referring to Step Number 10 of the Mystery?!?!?) LOL
A beautiful bouquet of sunflowers grace the Snack Table. They still look fresh:
A close-up:
I was aiming for a "quilt-worthy" photo, I may have failed miserably:
Britt made some SERIOUS progress on her Jamestown Landing Quilt (by Bonnie Hunter):
This Heron wall decoration was Ruth S's constant companion as she worked on her Mystery:
Ta Da!!! Katharine completed the top of her Halloween Table Runner before lunch:
After lunch, I snapped a picture of another of the quilts in the Dining Cottage:
One last walk to The Bluff...
This is an example of a Stick Fort that can be found all over The Bluff:
There's the water, peeking through the trees:
The lovely Lake Ontario. SEW beautiful:
I was trying to capture the path to the playground:
Goodbye, Ruth S.!!! Until we see you again, enjoy the last of your garden:
And then... we set off for points south:
Beautiful rolling hills raced by our car windows:
Early autumn splendor:
Darned guard rails! They insist on blocking the view:
Such a sweet pastoral scene:
Pennsylvania beauty, but it doesn't compare to Lake Ontario:
But... attempting to capture the beauty of the moment:
I see another bit of water through there:
If ONLY there was a way to STOP the car for a photo op without losing travel time:
Another sunset on the horizon:
After checking into our hotel for the night...
Six TIRED and hungry quilters enjoyed a FABULOUS (albeit late) dinner at Kenzo Japanese & Asian-Fusion. If you are EVER in the Chambersburg, PA area, don't miss out on a fine meal:
Until next time...
RETREAT!!!

ReplyDeleteYou've done a stellar job, Joy! I've loved reading each blog entry. Thanks!!!
Joy's response:
Thanks, Candy! You are quite welcome. I have to tell you though, it took ALMOST as long to upload the photos and write the posts as it did to live through our week away!!!
