4/30/16 - NT in the Wild {at a Mini-Retreat}

Welcome to another edition of NT in the Wild!!  This time our roving reporter spotted Nimble Thimbles at Britt's house having a Mini-Retreat. While the husband's away, the QUILTERS will play!!  There were 9 members in attendance (and only half of them were lugging machines.)

Here's a group shot BEFORE the arrival of Helena and Dee Dee:

Joy is behind her latest T-Quilt that she just brought home from the quilt. Thanks, Bo!  The flowers, swirls, and dragonflies will suit the recipient perfectly:

Britt recently completed the quilting on her M2 Mystery:

She has a plan for the (single-fold) binding, but the front shot didn't turn out:

YUM!!!  Fresh-baked (gluten-free) donuts... Hot out of the oven:

Here's a (blurry) picture of the quilt that Ruth B. will quilt today:

Carol got busy on her latest hand-quilting project:

Candy worked on cutting out a new knitting bag:

Joy trimmed up S's T-Quilt:

Ruth B. consulting with Jean before beginning to quilt:

Helena was happy to be working on her Daybreak Quilt by Jaybird Quilts:

Gayle is concentrating on her Hexie project:

Margaret is piecing another Donation Quilt:

Hey, Carol!!  Put down that camera!  We just wanted to see what you were quilting:

Dee Dee arrived just before lunchtime with a list of woes a mile long:

She got right to work on the CCLQ Group Donation Quilt:

It's going to look SEW pretty:

Speaking of pretty... Just LOOK at this beautiful lunch!  (And don't ask how I got that photo.):

The bowl with sitting on the big tray had PURPLE Potato Salad:

Margaret left for a little while to pick up THIS quilt from the quilter:

Bo quilted in space ships and aliens...

... And musical symbols in the Music Quilt:

Can you see the music note in the photo above and below?  Above, that "number symbol" is sharp note symbol.  The bass clef takes up two-thirds of the frame in the picture below:

Sorry, Margaret!! The full shot of the music quilt didn't turn out.  :o((

HERE is the pattern for Jean's next quilt:

It's interesting because THIS is actually the base unit...

Which make a secondary design as shown in the picture shown below:

You don't REALLY get a sense of how it comes together until you get a look at the line drawing of the quilt top.  I think that's because of all the dark fabrics in the cover quilt:

Jean was calling the quilt Pairings, as she plans to mix her own hand dyes with  THESE batiks:

She's feeling a little uncomfortable since we made Scrap Soup our of her nicely paired fabric strips:

WHAT are these three up to now?!

Dee Dee showed a picture of the Bird Blocks her design wall:

SEE???  I told you that Ruth B. was quilting:

Ta Da!!!  Britt finished the binding on her M2 Mystery Quilt:

This photo doesn't do justice to the beautiful quilting she did:

Here's a shot of the binding from the BACK of the quilt...

... And one from the FRONT of the quilt:

The photo below shows the border print from which Britt chose the fabrics for the quilt...

... And it ended up not working, so she shopped for this one and it turned out to be PERFECT:

With that complete, Britt got busy with sewing HSTs for a NEW quilt:

With blocks complete, Margaret began assembling the quilt top of  her 2nd Alien Quilt:

Before everyone left, Britt brought out THIS quilt top to see what options she had for enlarging it:

Of course, we are ALWAYS full of suggestions!!  LOL

That wraps up the Nimble Thimbles Mini-Retreat at Britt's house.  We all had a wonderful and if YOU weren't there... Rest assured, you were missed.

Until next time...
RETREAT!!!
