5/5/16 - CCLQ Fiesta @ Jean's

Welcome to another meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!!  This week we were at Jean's house. If you saw was she made for us, you'd wish you had been there, too!!!  8 members and 1 guest enjoyed the special treat, but I didn't take a picture because you might have ruined your keyboard with all the drool.  LOL

There were technical difficulties in the making of this post.  Everything was gone, so I dropped in my photos. I had to recreate the verbiage that I had already added and what Deborah had added (since my phone was on the fritz.)  Still not sure exactly what I did to make my computer eat the entire post. Sorry, to create more work for you, Deborah!!

Jean had a new kitchen quilt up just for Ruth B.  It was quilted with one of the "fancy" stitches on Jean's machine.  Ruth was doing something similar at the Mini-Retreat.
Joanna brought these for Linda.  Joy is holding them hostage until this month's NT Nights meeting.

Joanna made a Gadget Bag.

There are LOTS of pockets for rotary cutters, scissors, and such.

Deborah worked on cutting more scraps for her Small Star Quilt.

Ruth B. enjoyed a cup of coffee while sorting through her embroidery threads.

Candy's friend, Margaret, was our guest today.  She went home with one of the door prizes that Joy brought to share.
Cheryl K. took home another of these Humbug Bags.

Here's Cheryl K. working on her knitting project.

Dee Dee bought a pattern on the Shop Hop trip.

It's a very interesting Dragonfly project.

Jean's Show and Tell took us upstairs to her "Dry Studio" for a look at the "V" Quilt in progress.  She needed a consult on the angle of the letter.  The verdict was that it was just right!!

These are blue and "light orange" strips waiting to be added to the quilt.
Jean made this beautiful Willie Bag for a fund raiser for Family House.

Close up of Willie and Jean. Look at the wonderful quilting on this bag.

Here's the inside of the bag with two pockets.
Jean whipped up this quilt top in no time!  NOT!  It's a panel from Spoonflower that she purchased to use for "Wild Quilting" from a class by Christina Cameli on Craftsy.

This is one of TWO books that Jean recently purchased in order to re-learn how to free motion quilt.

Ruth B. showed her lovely landscape quilt.  She's starting to embroider to add embellishment of plants and flowers.

"Hey!" "Don't forget me!' says Willie as he shows his stuffed animal to the group.

Here's Jean's work in progress for the hand-dyed fabric + batiks half square triangle quilt.
That's it for this week!  Dee Dee's lunch timer went off and six of us headed to Rasa Malaysia in Southern Village in Chapel Hill.  (Yes.  We realize that it's Cinco de Mayo, but Candy promised Margaret a taste of Malaysia during her visit and we were only too happy to tag along.)  If you enjoy Asian cuisine and happen to find yourself anywhere near this place...  GO!!!  It's delicious!!

Until next time...
Keep quilting!!!
