5/19/16 - CCLQ @ Deborah's

Welcome to this week's meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!!  This week, 8 chilled members met at Deborah's house.  Chilled?  Yes, it was a cool and dreary day for the middle of May. That's OK, there was hot coffee and yummy muffins to warm us up!

SHOW AND TELL:

Joy brought this UFO that she plans to finish...

... By DONATING it to a worthy cause!!

Dee Dee did some drawing...

... For this adorable turtle pattern:

Ella worked on binding a quilt:

Candy did some more work on her Dinosaur project:

Jean was busy trimming more HSTs:

Joanna did some finishing work for her latest bag:

Deborah FINALLY settled down to have one of the delicious muffins that she baked for us...

... Before beginning to do more quilting on her Grandmother's quilt:

Cheryl K. stitched on the binding of her House Quilt:

Ruth B. is progressing on her applique project:

Oh! Look at the quilting that Cheryl K. did...

... And now she has another project in the works:

Joy wove in ends on a knitting project:

Jean and Candy brought Maple Leaf blocks for the Fort McMurray (Canada) fire victims:

Ruth B. has been working on her Pinwheel project...

... And THIS is what her blocks will grow up to be:

She has components in two stages:

Ruth B. showed the perfect fabric she has chosen for the back of her Bluff Mystery:

Ta! Da!!  Joanna has put the final stitches in the Tool Bag, FREE pattern from the recent CCLQ Shop Hop trip up in Virginia.  Here is an exterior shot...

... And THIS is an interior shot of how she turned the "bottom" pockets.  Smart thinking, Joanna!  She made the modification in order to allow for hanging the bag on a chair at workshops:

Jean completed a block for her "Strip Soup" (Unpairings) quilt:

She also completed the "V" quilt, using the blue binding (favored by her client) instead of going scrappy, as the majority of group members voted last week:

HERE is a closeup of the linear quilting, in the narrow part...

... And the meandering pattern in the wider sections:

For those of you interested in Jean's new trimming tool:

Candy is making a Baby Seat Adapter, but we have no photo of the pattern, just her quilted fabric and (oddly shaped) craft paper cutout:

Joanna is using THIS book...

... And these fabrics for a new quilt:

But requested a consult concerning the background choices:

Here's another look after we narrowed down the options...

... And this shot shows the grouping in better light:

Joanna brought Joy a little gift:

Thanks, Joanna!!  It is sure to come in handy!!

Dee Dee's lunch alarm went off and seven of us went off to try a new dining experience...

... At Tandem in Carrboro, with its interesting lighting...

... And an open view of the kitchen:

The Butternut Squash Soup was a popular choice and SEW delicious:

We missed Gayle today.  She had other plans for her day.  Here's hoping that she is able to join us next week!

Waving wildly to Ruth S. and Linda... We miss you both.  Come back soon.

Until next time...
Quilt away the gray days!!!
