2/2/17: CCLQ at Jean's

Happy Ground Hog's Day and welcome to the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters' weekly meeting blog! While we don't have any "Ground Hog Day" quilts to share with you today, we have an abundance of  inspiration from the beautiful work made by the hands of a group of creative and wonderful women!

Today's meeting was held at the home of Jean who always has a spectacular quilt hanging in her kitchen!

What a delightful and delicious treat... Teddy Bear Bread or is that Ground Hog Bread? This bread was made by Jean's husband, Rick... bread baker extraordinaire.  Thank you Rick!

Willie was eager to greet all the guests.  Hello to Ruth B!

Ruth S had a fun card to share.

Ruth S showed her police support quilt, which  is almost finished expect for sewing down the binding.
Deborah shared the group photo which will go on the back of the police support quilts.  A big thank you to Deborah's daughter who was able to photoshop this to get everyone who made a police support quilt in the picture!
DeeDee shared her police support quilt, which has lovely quilted stars.  DeeDee is also sewing the binding today.

Jean was working on "Little Willies" and said, "Who knows where these will show up?"

Speaking of Willie, he's giving a kiss to Joanna.

Ruth S finished this lovely quilt top. She used Creative Grid Rulers for Crazy Quilt and used up lots of batik scraps.

Ruth plans to use fancy stitches from her machine to quilt the crazy quilt.  She explored the stitches by making a sample.

Cheryl K shared the blocks for a wonky log cabin quilt.  This will be a wonderful gift for a friend.

Joanna finished another awesome quilt. This beauty is made from Stonehenge fabrics.

Another close up...

All this show and tell has made Willie tired!
Another peak at the sampler quilt...Ruth S will do the binding.
Jean showed a marvelous Majestic Mountains quilt that she finished!
Close up of the fine feather quilting!
The back of Jean's quilt looks wonderful too!

Jean is working on this Dupioni silk star quilt with feathered trapunto quilting from Patsy Thompson on Craftsy.

Close up of that fabulous feathered quilting.

Jean's design wall is always a treat. Look at these adorable paper pieced Willies! These blocks are made from the scarves that Willie gets when he goes to the groomer.

Jean gave us a tutorial on paper piecing using the "fold method."  This way one doesn't have to spend hours ripping the paper out after sewing. Thanks Jean!

Jean also demonstrated how to use a "Add a Quarter Ruler".  This makes the fold method of paper piecing more precise and easy to do!

Introducing Jean's new machine, "Trey." He's the successor of Bernie and Nina.

DeeDee is happy to meet Trey!

Deborah recently purchased some Tula Pink fabric. Jean shared her Tula Pink book of 100 modern quilt blocks.

Seven quilters ventured to Briar Chapel in Chatham County to  enjoy a delicious meal at Alberello.

Until next week...."make stuff....Bee Happy!"
