Welcome to the monthly meeting of the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Bee!!  This month, we were hosted by Dee Dee.  Thank you for opening your home to us (although, I have to say, it felt awfully strange not doing some sort of dyeing project.)  Thanks to everyone who brought treats to share in our BBQ Picnic themed feast after the meeting was adjourned.  Yum!!

Show and Tell...

Dee Dee - A beautiful summer porch greeted 9 happy quilters:

She had a TELL once the meeting got going:

Dee Dee hasn't been in the mood to sew, went off to France, read 5 books.

FINALLY she got the urge to SEW. So...

Dee Dee's SHOW - Her new blouse made with fabric from a friend:

Give us the runway view:

THIS is the pattern that she used:

Helena had a SHOW!!  Blocks from Rosie's Merrakesh class:

The colors are actually teal, turquoise, and acid green:

Her completed quilt will look something like this:

Helena's outfit coordinated with her quilt:

Carol - Pineapple fabric purchases?  USE them!!!  She gave a quilt to one son's girlfriend and made this one for the other son's girlfriend with the scraps of the first:

Here is a closer look:

Next, Carol shared the quilt top she recently finished for her son who just moved to Charlotte:

Have a closer look at this one:

Britt shared this photo.  Notice the BLUE on his coat and the self-satisfied grin on his face.  The ink pen didn't stand a chance:

Lynda brought a Kaffe Quilt that she made twice.  Once in dark fabrics and here is the light/bright version that she quilted herself:

And for her next trick...  A king sized version of Kaffe's Library Quilt - minus the gray/brown sashing:

Joy is trying to decide on fabrics for a Mug Rug Swap:

She was happy to be "quiltin' with my peeps" today:

And happy to have this quilt top completed:

It's made of neck ties from her client's late father's collection:

Margaret used 17 colors of half-yard cuts purchased for $34 from Quiltedtwins.com and the Kindred Pinwheel pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Company, along with background, cornerstones, and sashing from her stash to create this scrappy looking quilt top:

LOVE that piano key border made from leftover strips:

Linda had a TELL:

She made a class quilt each year until a couple of years ago.  These were given when the class graduated from 5th grade. This year's quilt went to a boy who has asked for it since 2nd grade.  The only problem is that he is one of a set of twins!  Mom reports that the boys fight over who gets to sleep with the quilt every night.  LOL

There's only ONE quilt left!!!

Here is Linda, telling that she found ANOTHER closet to annex for fabric and quilting supplies:

Margaret passed around her copy of BLOCK magazine:

Ella had this lovely quilted tote with her today:

She also had a TELL:

They moved in February 2010 and there are STILL boxes that weren't unpacked!!  In a recently opened box, Ella found a bunch of fabric and THREE duplicates of two templates by EZ Quilting:

If YOU have any idea what the templates shown above are for, please contact Ella or leave a comment on this post.  Thanks!

A number of us missed having Dye Frenzy today, so Dee Dee brought out her examples of dendritic printing and explained the process, suggested that perhaps we could do this next year:

Until next time...
Insert cute quilty phrase here!!!
