8/9/18: CCLQ at Ella's

Welcome to the weekly meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters.  This week eight quilters met at Ella's home.  Enjoy readying about abundant ideas, quilts from the past, mystery blocks, and the December challenge.  Next week, please bring a quilt from your past... perhaps a quilt made by your grandmother or one you made when you were a novice quilter.

We were welcomed by lovely crepe myrtle blooms.

Hope you're inspired by these beauties.
Ella had a lovely table scape for our morning snack.  Barry made some delicious zucchini blueberry muffins. Thank you Barry!

These mystery blocks were on Ella's design wall.

The group was so busy chatting, we forgot to ask Ella about this, so they will remain a mystery until next time.

Ella is getting ready to make a cross body bag for her sister.

She made this sample bag to practice.

Here are the colors she chose for her sister's bag.  Thanks to Jean for the inspiration and the lovely embroidered blocks.

Ella started this quilt in 2005 when she lived in Kansas.  The blocks were from a Shop Hop. A few months ago, the CCLQ quilters helped Ella arrange these blocks and now the quilt top is finished and ready for quilting!  Joanna will quilt this one and we can't wait to see what she chooses to do!!

Cheryl B joined us today and soon will be teaching again, so enjoyed spending time with the bee.

Candy returned from a visit to Athens GA and found this cute bag in a candy store.

Candy thought it would be easy to make this bag using  a small quilt block to use instead of the embroidery.
Ruth B finished the assembly of the Churn Dash quilt.

Ruth plans to add a couple of borders.

Here's Ruth and her lovely quilt! Quilters love to color coordinate their outfits with their quilts.

Jean gave Gayle this embroidery design to go with Gayle's peacock fabric.

Jean plans to make a quilt like this one for her neighbor who loves cats.
Jean found a another variation of the moonlight cat quilt and liked the pieced star blocks. We're looking forward to see which quilt Jean will make.

Deborah had a celestial experience and made this quilt for her grandson in three days!!!  The fabric is from 2008 and glows in the dark! Deborah made two game bags for her son-in-law with this space fabric several years ago.

Cheryl received an embroidered block to made a cross body bag!  Candy received one too.

Ella shared this quilt from her past. When Ella lived in Houston, her bee had an annual group project. The group made blocks for one person and then one member made the quilt.  This is the stunning quilt they made for Ella.

This was the focus fabric.

This is the back of the quilt with photos of the members of the bee.

Christmas challenge....remember these lovely embroidered blocks Jean gave us last year?  The challenge is to make something by December with this block. Only four months until Christmas, so some of us need to get started soon! Jean will bring a few more of these blocks to the next meeting for people who did not get one.

Ellas shared this fabric which will be on the back of her Kansas quilt...it has her name on it!😊

Quilters enjoyed lunch at the General Store Cafe in Saxapahaw.

Until next week, have fun whatever you're doing!
