5/28 - CCLQ @ ZoomBEE

Welcome to this week's meeting of the Cherry Creek Lane Quilters!!  Gayle was scheduled to be our hostess today, but she was unable to join us. Thank you to Deborah for filling in, with flair! There were 12 members and 1 guest present.  Once everyone was logged in, Jean reminded us all to smile and took our weekly group portrait:

ANNOUNCEMENTS...

When talking about cloth face masks, Dee Dee suggested that if you are having trouble with fogged up glasses, fold a tissue and place on the inside of your mask near the nose wire.  The tissue will keep the heat of your breath from fogging up your glasses.

Carol asked about setting options for her Postage Stamp quilt.  Joy recommended taking a look at Wedding Dress Blue for some scrappy inspiration.

Ella had an announcement for Carol and others.  Debbie found a replacement for the (now broken) Pineapple Key Chain Award...

This was Carol's reaction to the news:

Barry photo bombed "the girls"...

Here was Candy's reaction:

SHOW AND TELL...

Joy...

... Shared a new mask pattern:

This is the back of the mask...

... And here, Joy is modeling a second mask:

Two blocks for the Scrap Buster Challenge:

Joy urged us all to use the SAME ruler (and cut the SAME size pieces) to get consistent results.  Something she obviously ignored, given the discrepancy the two blocks shown above!!

She also showed a phone photo of the "Bigger Boat" Quilted Yarn Bowl made for a friend:

DeeDee...

... Reported that her lovely Storm at Sea almost done:

A friend sent her a book about creative creations for cats...

Sorry I missed the photo, but she is making a mouse like this one:

Dee Dee's latest shopping spree include this cool Kaffe floral...

... A bright leaf print...

... And this lovely stripe:

These were all purchased online, shopping at 5bucksayard.com and then Dee Dee showed us a better view of her Storm at Sea quilt...

... With only a few more of these units to finish before assembly can begin:

Joanna...

... Has been making blocks…

... That she's not sure...

 ... What she’ll do with:

She is taking a challenge and sticking to the original plan for these blocks...

... Incorporating them into this design:

The completed quilt will look something like this:

Cheryl K...

... Is binding a wall quilt and made a Storm at Sea block, but isn't sure about it:

Here's a better look at her traditionally pieced block:

Next, Cheryl is making a Butterfly Baby quilt...

... Using a selection of fossil fern fabric:

Lynda M...

... Has started on a quilt using 2 pre-cut packages and now has lots of cutting to do:

Lynda Mac is also starting a Lorna Doone with Kaffe fabrics and has returned to working on her wonderful Sue Spargo appliqué and embroidery quilt:

Carol...

... Has finished all 12 inch  postage stamp blocks!  Members shared ideas for how to put them together:

...Embroidery class on monograms with a challenge to use denim:

Candy...

... Made a cute (pieced) Pineapple Applique challenge block to add to the Pineapple Pieces quilt the group will be making:

Used curtain rings to hang wall hanging quilt made from Indonesian fabric:

Maggie...

... Has been making lots...

... And lots of HST...

... To be included in the Row by Row from Wish Upon a Quilt:

You can get a better look at how those HSTs come into play in the photo below...

Here's an even closer look:

Maggie also used a sheep panel for the back of a 30" x 40" baby quilt:

The front of the quilt also includes sheep fabric:

As you saw earlier, Ella's friend Debbie is visiting...

Debbie is using this pattern...

... To make a small quilt...

... Using science fabric...

... To display pins from her career as a Science Teacher:

Debbie is also starting a bigger quilt, her first full size one, and she's working her way up to a quilt for her bed:

Ella photo bombed our view of Debbie's new quilt...

... Piped up with, "And she'll be back again to finish it!"  LOL!

Ella...

... Finished the top of another Bonnie quilt top which will be a donation quilt:

Ruth B...

... Has been working on her Black & White quilt and has sorted her blocks to make sure there isn't two much of one variety or another:

She's also been making masks for neighbors, friends and family:

As Ruth showed the changes to her design wall she asked Cheryl K. about digging out this photo as an example of what to do with the blocks:

I wish I could remember the story about this beautiful fabric...

Jean...

... Made this slipper for an embroidery challenge using denim...

She plans to make only one...

... For use as a display in her sewing room:

Jean made a "regular" D4P block...

... And a Disappearing 4-Patch With a Twist:

She has also been working on a 36" x 45" Baby quilt...

 Zebra and stripes:

Here's a better look at the picture Jean used:

Deborah...

... Is making a suitcase for her grand-daughter for an upcoming birthday:

She is using a 30" robe zipper for the closure:

The interior has stars for the child's current favorite song:

The hardest part was inserting the zipper:

It wasn't any easier or less of a challenge this time than it was 3 years ago when she made the same pattern for her grandson:

Deborah shared the Block of the Month from her night time bee:

LOOK at this adorable critter fabric:

Deborah also gathered a collection of fabrics to go with it:

She showed a pin cushion gift from neighbor who is in the Monday machine embroidery group.  Deborah provided denim so the neighbor could participate in the challenge:

Deborah is looking forward to a pick-up at IKEA for sewing room storage solutions...

... And Joy jumped in on that!  She needed a center support...

... For the "gallery wire" in her studio...

While she was at it, she ordered a second wire, since she has another box of clips:

Virtual additions...

Candy sent photos of her ring quilt hanger:

Along with a photo with her recently completed quilt:

Britt couldn't make to day s meeting, but she sent a photo of her recent finish:

EDITOR'S NOTES:

First, special thanks for Deborah for taking notes during today's meeting.  It is SEW challenging to keep tabs on what everyone is doing AND take pictures at the same time!  Thank you, again, Deborah.

Also, members, please contact me with any corrections to this week's post.

Until next time...
SEW safely!!!
